Những vấn đề bất cập tại Việt Nam hiện nay như an toàn giao thông, an toàn thực phẩm, an toàn tính mạng, chăm sóc sức khỏe, trường học, bệnh viện công và cả vấn đề sống làm người nhưng không được tự do ngôn luận bàn về mọi thứ kể cả chính trị, không được nói đụng tới lãnh đạo chính trị cộng sản chóp bu. Đây không không chỉ là những “bất cập” nhỏ bé, mà là biểu hiện của một hệ thống quản trị yếu kém, phi dân chủ và thiếu minh bạch.
Tai nạn giao thông tại Việt Nam diễn ra như cơm bữa. Không phải vì người dân “thiếu ý thức” như nhà nước thường đổ lỗi, mà vì quy hoạch kém, hạ tầng tồi tệ, và một lực lượng cảnh sát giao thông thiên về vòi tiền hơn là giữ trật tự. Bên cạnh đó, người dân ăn gì cũng nơm nớp lo sợ, từ rau bị phun thuốc trừ sâu đến thịt lợn tẩm hóa chất. Bộ máy kiểm soát chất lượng thì yếu ớt hoặc… đồng lõa. Nhưng có ai phải từ chức không. Có ai chịu trách nhiệm không.
Bệnh viện công thì quá tải, bác sĩ phải nhận phong bì mới “nhiệt tình.” Trường học thì đầy những chương trình giáo dục nhồi sọ, nơi học sinh được dạy phải “biết ơn Đảng” hơn là học cách tư duy độc lập. Một cái hố gas không đậy nắp cũng có thể lấy mạng người, và “đơn vị thi công” thì… xin rút kinh nghiệm.
Tự do ngôn luận là thứ xa xỉ. Nói thật thì bị tù. Chỉ trích chính quyền thì bị gắn mác “phản động.” Viết Facebook thì bị gọi lên phường. Làm báo độc lập thì không có cửa. Nghĩ khác Đảng là có tội. Hệ thống csVN sợ sự thật như ma sợ ánh sáng. Dưới chế độ này, bạn có quyền làm người… miễn là đừng lên tiếng. Đừng hỏi “tiền thuế tôi đi đâu”. Đừng chất vấn “tại sao xe VinFast cháy chết người mà không ai bị điều tra?”. Đừng hỏi “cán bộ tham nhũng hàng trăm tỷ – tại sao chỉ ‘kiểm điểm sâu sắc’?”
Thực trạng ở Việt Nam hiện nay là khi ăn thì lo thực phẩm bẩn, ra đường thì sợ cống hở với xe container mất thắng, vào bệnh viện công thì phải có phong bì, vào trường học thì phải học cách cúi đầu, nói thật thì bị quy chụp phản động, yêu nước không đúng kiểu đảng dạy thì bị ghép tội “chống phá”. Ở một xã hội mà, nói xấu hàng xóm thì được, nhưng nói thật về lãnh đạo là “bôi nhọ chính quyền”. Tự do ngôn luận không bị cấm, miễn là… chỉ nói điều Đảng thích nghe.
Một cái xã hội thật kỳ lạ. Dân làm sai thì bị phạt. Nhưng quan làm sai thì “nghiêm túc rút kinh nghiệm sâu sắc toàn diện”. Dân chết thì do “sơ suất”. Quan cướp đất thì do “vì sự phát triển chung”. Nhiều người dân, kể cả trí thức, cảm thấy khó khăn khi bàn luận các vấn đề liên quan đến chính trị, đặc biệt khi nhắc đến lãnh đạo cấp cao. Sự thiếu minh bạch và không tồn tại cơ chế phản biện mở khiến xã hội mất đi khả năng tự điều chỉnh và phát triển dân chủ. Điều này cũng làm giảm mức độ tin tưởng vào hệ thống quản trị và chính sách công. Cuối cùng, muốn sống bình an dưới chế độ csVN thì người dân phải giả ngu cho giỏi.

Current problems in Vietnam include traffic safety, food safety, life safety, health care, schools, public hospitals, and even the problem of living as a human being without freedom of speech to discuss anything, including politics, and not being allowed to mention the top communist political leaders. These are not just small “inadequacies”, but are manifestations of a weak, undemocratic, and non-transparent governance system.
Traffic accidents in Vietnam happen all the time. Not because people “lack awareness” as the government often blames, but because of poor planning, bad infrastructure, and a traffic police force that is more interested in extorting money than maintaining order. In addition, people are afraid of everything they eat, from vegetables sprayed with pesticides to pork soaked in chemicals. The quality control apparatus is weak or… complicit. But does anyone have to resign? Does anyone take responsibility?
Public hospitals are overloaded, doctors have to accept envelopes to be “enthusiastic.” Schools are full of brainwashing programs, where students are taught to “be grateful to the Party” rather than learn to think independently. An uncovered gas pit can kill someone, and the “construction unit”… asks for experience.
Freedom of speech is a luxury. Telling the truth will get you jailed. Criticizing the government will get you labeled “reactionary.” Writing on Facebook will get you called to the ward. Being an independent journalist is out of the question. Thinking differently from the Party is a crime. The Vietnamese communist system fears the truth like ghosts fear the light. Under this regime, you have the right to be human… as long as you don’t speak up. Don’t ask “where did my tax money go?” Don’t question “why was no one investigated when a VinFast car caught fire and killed someone?” Don’t ask “corrupt officials of hundreds of billions – why are they only ‘deeply criticized’?”
The current situation in Vietnam is that when eating, we worry about dirty food, when going out, we are afraid of open sewers and brakeless container trucks, when going to a public hospital, we need an envelope, when going to school, we have to learn to bow our heads, when telling the truth, we are labeled as reactionary, when patriotism is not as the Party teaches, we are accused of “subversion”. In a society where speaking ill of one’s neighbor is acceptable, but when speaking the truth about leaders, it is “smearing the government”. Freedom of speech is not prohibited, as long as… we only say what the Party wants to hear. What a strange society. When people do wrong, they are punished. But when officials do wrong, they “seriously and comprehensively learn from their mistakes”. When people die, it is due to “negligence”. When officials rob land, it is due to “common development”. Many people, including intellectuals, find it difficult to discuss issues related to politics, especially when mentioning high-ranking leaders. The lack of transparency and the absence of an open criticism mechanism make society lose its ability to self-regulate and develop democracy. This also reduces the level of trust in the governance system and public policies. Finally, if people want to live peacefully under the communist regime in Vietnam, they have to play dumb very well.
